About the Show

That Show About the Hot Dog takes audiences on a whimsical journey alongside Wee Weenie Wiener (Wee Wee), and She She, two unlikely hot dog heroes searching for inner hot dog truth. This multidisciplinary comedic production by the CFACoLab explores identity, diversity, becoming, and the art of the hot dog through an array of vibrant characters clad in hot dog-inspired costumes. Each scene, playfully dubbed a “DOG,” features effects, dance, and culinary adventures, culminating in an epic finale that celebrates the cultural significance of the hot dog. With puppets, music, dance, visual arts, and clever humour, this show promises a flavourful All-You-Can-Eat experience!

An artlovers paradise, a theatregoers wonderland, and almost certainly, a traditionalist’s nightmare.

Chef’s Specialties

What’s Special on the Menu?

In That Show About the Hot Dog, the CFACoLab, takes theatre to an exciting and transdisciplinary model. Traditional forms of acting, dance, music, film, puppetry, comedy, and fashion collide within the space of a 50 min work to create a ontologically fast-paced humorous form. It’s as if we “change the channel” and “change the form” constantly, yet in the end we end up within a cohesive and ontologically sound theatrical world. Amigurumi ( the Japanese art of crochet) Puppets in the show become characters alongside traditional actors. Original music underlies the entire production. The show is punctuated and accompanied by film, projection, and lighting.

Surprise is this company’s forte, and this piece is so clever as to be dumbfounding.
